Communicating Climate Change

A Guide to Readings and Resources

About this Project

Prof. Artie Kopelman of the Science & Math Dept. and Prof. Amy Lemmon have been awarded a Sustainability Council Grant for the project Communicating Climate Change: Collaboration in the Arts and Sciences. The grant will bring University of Alabama-Birmingham Professors James B. McClintock, one of the world's foremost polar marine biologists, and Adam Vines, a celebrated author and creative writing teacher, to FIT for three days (Tuesday to Thursday) during the Spring 2017 semester.

Primarily trained in scientific writing, McClintock enlisted his colleague Vines's aid in editing two books based on his field research, Lost Antarctica and A Naturalist Goes Fishing, to appeal to a general readership. Professors McClintock and Vines will give a campus-wide presentation at FIT sharing their tale of synergy through a collaboration of the arts and sciences.
