Timelines are arguably the best visual mode for communicating & understanding complex, concurrent and interrelated events.

TimelineJS is an open-source, free to use tool that enables anyone to build visually rich, interactive timelines. Beginners can create a timeline using nothing more than a Google spreadsheet, like the one we used for the Timeline above. Experts can use their JSON skills to create custom installations.

Tiki Toki - https://www.tiki-toki.com/

Tiki-Toki is web-based and desktop software for creating beautiful interactive timelines that you can share on the internet.  A free web-based account allows users one interactive timeline that can be embedded on a website.

Tik Tok - http://datanews.github.io/tik-tok/

Tik Tok is an open-source Javascript tool to simple, mobile-friendly, vertical timelines. Coding knowledge is required but the timeline lives on your own server
