OneSearch and many of our databases allow you to create more complicated searches combining multiple pieces of information using their Advanced Search feature. Best of all, these are often as simple as filling out a form. You can fill in blanks for title, subject, and author as well as checking boxes or selecting from dropdown menus to add further characteristics to your results (such as retrieving only peer reviewed materials). Be sure to try the Advanced Search feature anywhere you see it.

This example also demonstrates how quotation marks can be used to retrieve only exact phrases. The example of the AND search will retrieve only works that include Toni Morrison, with her name written exactly that way, and Nobel Prize. If an item simply says that Toni Morrison won a Nobel without the word prize, it will not be returned in this search.
