Unintentional plagiarism can happen even if you cite your sources. Often incomplete paraphrasing can get you in trouble. This tool can help you check your article against online sources of information.
It's absolutely essential that you cite your sources in a Wikipedia article, as with any article you publish or research paper that you turn in. Wikipedia dictates no particular citation style but the citation templates that are available to Wikipedia editors closely resemble the Chicago Manual of Style author-date system.
IMPORTANT
When citing a source from an FIT Library subscription services, please leave out the URL.
Method 1 requires use of the default "edit source" toolbar feature of Wikipedia.
This first video shows how to set up a page to accept citations as footnotes, and how to create a basic citation using the citation templates. This is the general method that many, if not most, Wikipedia editors use.
This second video demonstrates advanced features of the citation templates.
I am calling this Method 2 and it is my personal favorite for using with library databases. Never include the proxy url.
